About the organisation
Mental Health Victoria is the peak body for Victoria’s mental health sector, working with consumers, carers, clinical and support services, medical colleges, professional associations, unions, police, emergency services, universities, governments and many others involved in mental health.
Mental Health Victoria aims to ensure that all Victorians living with mental illness can access the treatment and support they need to lead fulfilling lives in the community. To this end, they commission research and develop policy aimed at improving the mental health system as a whole and its many constituent parts. They bring together mental health system stakeholders through state and national events including conferences, summits and forums. Mental Health Victoria supports the mental health sector deliver the reforms arising from the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System.
About the role
The organisation is seeking a strategic finance professional to join the Executive leadership team and lead the finance and corporate functions of the organisation. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and managing the external support services, responsibilities will include providing strategic financial advice to the CEO and Board, in addition to the effective oversight and direction for all finance and corporate support activities across the organisation.
This will include preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, payroll, cashflows, and financial analysis, while ensuring that monthly performance reports are fit for purpose and completed accurately and on time. The Executive Director will also lead the preparation of annual financial reports and ensure compliance with the relevant legislation, acquittal and reporting guidelines.
Subject to Board appointment, the Executive Director may also be required to provide Company Secretarial responsibilities to ensure that all statutory and governance requirements are met by Mental Health Victoria.
With a relevant tertiary qualification and membership of a professional body (ICAA/CPA or equivalent is desirable), you’ll be self-motivated, service oriented and flexible in your style and enjoy combining strategic financial management with the hands-on aspects of finance and operations. Ideally your background will include experience in NFP work environments, and you’ll be highly skilled in all aspects of management and financial accounting and reporting.
Able to work with ambiguity, you will take a pro-active and solution focused approach to your work and will actively contribute to a healthy, positive and accountable workplace culture and the future growth and development of income streams. Key to your success will be your ability to establish productive working relationships across the organisation and the sector.
