The Advancement Office coordinates fundraising and alumni engagement activities for Deakin University. The Manager Gifts in Wills, working collaboratively in this supportive team, will play a key role in leading the development and execution of the fundraising strategy focused on Gifts in Wills and Planned gifts.

Attending events to present and promote Deakin and engaging with the Alumni community and stakeholders, this role will manage key relationships to communicate the strategic vision and promotion of Deakin. An effective communicator, ability to listen, support complex cases, and previous experience in bequest methodology, working in Charity, fundraising and/ or higher education will be highly regarded.

 

As the Manager, Gifts in Wills you will:

  • Lead the creation and management of a program that identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards donors who are making a gift in their Will to Deakin
  • Manage own portfolio of prospective and confirmed Gifts in Wills donors including a focus on development and implementation of growth strategies to cultivate and steward high value supporters and bequestors.
  • Work with Advancement colleagues to develop and implement a University-wide Gifts in Wills Strategy and achievement of its strategic goals.
  • Act as the primary liaison between all parties to ensure that all planned and realised Gifts in Wills to the University are impactful, and consistent with Deakin policy and practice, and to Wills and Estates law.

 

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Relevant post graduate qualification or applicable combination of qualifications and substantial experience.
  • Proven track record of managing and growing a Gifts in Wills program using both multichannel marketing, relationship fundraising and targeted data analytics.
  • Proven high level planning, organisation, and budget management skills.
  • Sophisticated communication and interpersonal relationship skills, including the ability to listen, influence, collaborate and work with confidentiality and sensitivity.
