The Settlement Council of Australia (SCoA) represents settlement agencies across Australia providing direct services to people of refugee and migrant backgrounds. SCoA is the national peak body for settlement, bringing service providers together at a national level to create a cohesive voice to improve collaborative strategic planning processes. SCoA works within a human rights framework, with a particular focus on Listening, Accountability, Partnership, Integrity and Respect.

The Office Manager / Executive Officer is both hands-on and strategic, and will drive forward a broad range of administration functions, corporate services, and key projects to contribute towards SCoA’s goal – to help ensure the best possible settlement outcomes for migrants and refugees settling in Australia.

The Office Manager / Executive Officer is responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of the SCoA office and supporting the SCoA team to effectively scale, grow and deliver. You will ensure good governance, sound financial management, positive HR practices, and well-functioning IT and databases. This includes establishing new ways of working where required, ensuring adherence to existing policies and procedures, and undertaking day-to-day administrative duties to support the team and the CEO. High-level communications skills will be essential to research, prepare, edit and review correspondence, recommendations, reports and briefing guidelines.

About you:
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, and aptitude for learning new software and systems,
  • Experience in developing and implementing internal systems,
  • Communication skills and the ability to manage relationships at all levels, and across different cultures,
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure,
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities,
  • Open to change, able to ‘think on their feet’ and willing to be hands-on in a collaborative team environment,
  • Experience, education and/or strong interest in research and policy,
  • Strong understanding of cultural sensitivity and commitment to diversity in the workplace,
  • Commitment to SCOA’s vision of an Australia where all people of migrant and refugee backgrounds belong, thrive and experience fulfilling lives.
