About the organisation
Mission/Purpose: Macarthur Family & Youth Services is a not for profit organisation. We work with, and empower families with children and young people to build and sustain safe and healthy environments and support their personal, social and educational development so that they can achieve their full potential in society.
Service Delivery: Macarthur Family and Youth Services provides early intervention, intensive family preservation and financial/gambling counselling services to the community. Macarthur Family and Youth Services delivers programs targeting vulnerable children, youth and families.
About the role
An opportunity has arisen for a new Board Member to join our experienced and dedicated Board with a particular focus on candidates with sector experience.
Responsibilities:
- Read and respond to monthly reports and documentation.
- Participate in bi-monthly board meetings and other board related events.
- Work with the Board to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Formulating the strategic plan in conjunction with the Director
- Ensuring the integrity of internal control, risk management and management information systems
- Putting in place a suite of policies and procedures. The Board is responsible for approving governance policies. The Director is responsible for approving all other operational policies.
- Ensuring MFYS’s financial viability, solvency and sustainability
- Ensuring stakeholders receive regular reports, including financial reports
- Acting as an advocate for MFYS whenever and wherever necessary.
Requirements:
- Understanding of budgets and understanding financial reports.
- Leadership and management experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to the organisation’s missions and values.
- Some experience in a not for profit management would be well regarded.
