About the organisation

Organisation Name : Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research

About the role

The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI) is one of Australia’s leading biomedical research organisations, with a strong national and international reputation for performing highly influential basic and translational medical research.

With more than 1,100 staff and students, the Institute is addressing some of the major health challenges of our time, with a focus on cancer, infection, inflammation, immune disorders, childhood development and ageing. At the forefront of research innovation, WEHI has a strong commitment to excellence and investment in research computing, advanced technologies, AI, machine learning and developing new medicines and diagnostics.

As a senior member of the Fundraising and Philanthropy team, the Donor Relations Manager will provide strategic oversight of the Institute’s donor relations and donor stewardship program, to ensure purpose-driven engagement that can be delivered at-scale and also be highly personalised and bespoke, and leads to improved donor retention and development.

Selection Criteria

You will bring excellent written and verbal communication skills to enable the delivery of compelling, donor-centric communications, as well as events management experience to aid the delivery of a suite of donor centric events and engagement opportunities. Working closely with colleagues in major gifts, philanthropic grants, philanthropy services and annual giving, you will bring a highly collaborative and process-driven approach that identifies opportunities for efficiencies and implements these, in turn freeing up resources for a more tailored donor experience where appropriate. Previous experience working within a fundraising department or advancement office is essential.
