About the role

  • Full-time, 38 hours, 5 days per week.
  • Our preference is VIC but would consider NSW or WA
  • Permanent role

 

An opportunity exists for an experienced and passionate leader to grow NDS’s national Learning and Development (L&D) practice.
The Head of Learning and Development is responsible for the ongoing growth of the practice, by facilitating the development of quality and timely learning products and services that support both the sector and our members. Aligning with the NDS Policy and Advocacy initiatives, this role will create an L&D Centre of Excellence that is highly regarded both internally and externally, and maximises revenue opportunities for the organisation.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and execute the L&D strategy and implementation roadmap in consultation with key internal and external stakeholder groups to ensure maximum support and engagement for initiatives.
  2. Lead the NDS Learning and Development team, ensuring the structure and skillset of the team can successfully deliver against the L&D strategy.
  3. Create and implement learning solutions which deliver against member and sector needs.
  4. Identify and pursue new commercial offerings and funding opportunities for the L&D practice.
  5. Management of the delivery of all Learning & Development activities including, training needs analysis, training delivery, course participation management, training logistics, and/or other services.
  6. Management of the L&D budget including both revenue and cost targets
  7. Build and foster partnerships with content and workshop providers to ensure a broad and diverse suite of quality learning products and services are available for purchase from the L&D practice.
  8. Provide support and advice to NDS staff related to learning and development opportunities in funded projects.
  9. Identify sector issues and market trends and stay abreast of contemporary L&D approaches.
  10. Represent NDS and members on working groups as required.

 

Other Responsibilities (applicable for all NDS employees):

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the manager/supervisor from time to time
• Comply with NDS’s policies and procedures at all times, including (but not limited to) HR, Quality, Work Health & Safety (WHS), IT, Security, and Data Privacy

Desired Skills and Experience

 

Skills and Experience: 

  • Proven experience in designing and delivering learning and development programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of disability services sector and associated learning needs
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
  • Sound understanding of marketing principles and their application to learning and development initiatives
  • Ability to develop and manage budgets for training programs
  • Experience in utilising technology for innovative learning delivery methods
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs and implement improvements
  • Relevant qualifications in education, human resources, or a related field
