About the opportunity

The Home and Community Care Program For Younger People (HACC PYP) supports younger people with disabilities or medical/health conditions, and their respective carers to live as independently as possible in their own homes. Younger people are defined as people less than 65 years, or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged less than 50 years. The Program assists with a range of daily activities including personal care, dressing, preparing meals, house cleaning, property maintenances, community access and using public transport.

As a Community Care Worker, you will directly support younger people with disabilities and their carers with daily living activities and domestic tasks. The role will enable consumers to maintain independence and enhance their quality of life.

HACC PYP community care work involves a flexible rostering arrangement in which the workplace is primarily the private homes of clients or their carers in Baw Baw and Latrobe local government areas.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a minimum Certificate III in Home and Community Care or equivalent qualification.

You will also have:

  • Previous experience in the provision of care to vulnerable people such as children, people with disabilities or elderly people
  • Demonstrated ability to perform routine domestic tasks as necessary to maintain the normal function of a household
  • Ability to provide social and emotional support for clients in a sensitive and confidential manner
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Current first aid and CPR certificates
