Our client is one of Victoria’s leading healthcare services who is seeking a Senior Philanthropy Manager to join their Strategic Partnerships division. You will play a pivotal role in executing a five-year plan to secure significant philanthropic gifts from key middle and major donors that will be invested in medical research, patient wellbeing initiatives, life saving equipment, and employee training. 


The Opportunity:
This is an opportunity to strengthen your donor relationship management skills in a portfolio that is purely your own to build, as well as gain leadership skills being the guide and support for two philanthropy managers. This role will welcome your ideas and provide you with the autonomy to create the necessary strategies that will ensure the success of the health services fundraising department. 

You will be a part of a dedicated, kind, supportive and high-performing team of fundraising, event management and business support professionals. There will be enormous scope in this role to stretch your professional competencies and develop your abilities liaising with internal and external stakeholders, high net worth donors and mid-level donors, all whom are deeply passionate about the organisation.

You will report into the Director of Philanthropy whose management style will champion your curiosity, self-determination and willingness to take the lead.  You will be provided team leadership training to help shape you into a supportive and empowering manager so you can lead by example, and provide guidance to the two legacy philanthropy managers who are also very self-motivated. 

The Role:
This role specifically requires you to:

  • Work closely with the in-house prospect researcher to develop a portfolio of potential major donors
  • Develop a “movement” strategy and plan for moving middle donors to become major donors
  • Liaise with the internal Fundraising Coordinator to help to build the Bequests program
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with existing donors and supporters
  • Collaborate closely with the donor relations and events team to create appropriate donor events throughout the year
  • Collaborate closely with the Donor Steward Manager and the Communications Manager
  • Guide and be a support to two (2) Philanthropy Managers
  • Continue to develop best practice for soliciting philanthropic gifts
  • Contribute your ideas to innovate and develop ways to strengthen donor relationships
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and always be a champion of philanthropy

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience working as a Philanthropy Manager (ideal) or Relationship Manager working in a fundraising team
  • Genuine passion for the health sector 
  • Experience working in a large, complex environment
  • Demonstratable stakeholder relationship management skills
  • A huge team player and able to collaborate, share ideas and lead by example
  • Demonstrable experience displaying resilience and perseverance
  • Strategic thinker
  • Curious mind and strong problem solving skills
  • Kind, caring and compassionate
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity to create successful outcomes
  • Self motivated and self-starter

Fundraising candidates specialising in Corporate or Strategic Partnerships are encouraged to apply. 

In addition, you will be required to undertake a Police Check and Working with Children’s Check. The successful incumbent will be required to show a current flu vaccination certificate as well as their Covid-19 vaccination certificate.

This role is a full time, permanent position based in Melbourne’s South with flexibility and working from home options. An attractive salary package is on offer, along with NFP salary packaging, one allocated day off each month and 5 weeks annual leave.
