About the role

  • $40.00 per hour + super + increase take-home pay with salary packaging benefits.
  • Part-time (0.7 FTE), flexible work hours, based in Lonsdale Street, Melbourne CBD.
About the opportunity

Our Heritage Service is dedicated to supporting past residents and their families affected by adoption or out-of-home care provided by the Presbyterian, Methodist, and Uniting Churches. We help people access information and support their journey to better understand their past. It’s important work.

You will lead the work to scope, manage, and record the historical out-of-home care records of about 30,000 people across 21 different collections held by Uniting. It can sometimes feel like a big job and will benefit from your ability to plan and segment your work effectively.

You will also be responsible for managing records databases, ensuring they are accurate and up to date, and undertaking other records-related tasks that improve Heritage Services’ ability to respond to consumers, including indexing and digitising records.

What’s on offer

In addition to a base hourly rate of $40.00 and superannuation, you can increase your take-home pay by accessing up to $15,900 in salary packaging benefits, which can be used for living expenses such as rent, groceries, bills, clothing, streaming services, and more.

It’s a part-time role involving 53.2 hours per fortnight. We have some flexibility around work hours and can accommodate 3.5 / 4 days per week or 7 days across a fortnight. Days are also flexible – except Tuesdays when the Heritage team gets together in the office.

We offer a friendly and inclusive work environment in a great location in Wesley Place, Lonsdale Street. The building offers concierge services, amazing end-of-trip facilities, and events such as free Yoga and well-being sessions.

There is also the option to increase your annual leave entitlements through our purchase leave program. You can access a 10% discount on the childcare subsidy gap fee when using a Uniting Early Learning service or Centre and we also offer a 25% discount off donated goods at Uniting Op shops.

About you

Whether you’re starting your career, in your late career, or somewhere in between, if you have a strong interest in heritage work and experience in managing records and archives, we’d love to hear from you.

You will also bring with you:

  • Knowledge record management methodologies and principles
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field
  • Experience with MS Office, particularly MS Excel
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
