The Organisation
Our Watch is a national leader in the primary prevention of violence against women and their children. Their vision is an Australia where women and their children live free from all forms of violence. They work to embed gender equality and prevent violence where Australians live, learn, work, and socialise.
The Position
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the Head of Finance will have end-to-end responsibility for managing all aspects of Our Watch’s financial operations. The Head of Finance is a pivotal role working closely with the executive team, uplifting the performance of the finance functions processes and people, and introducing a business partnering mindset to support the directorates.
The key responsibilities for this role include:
- Lead the finance functions including monthly closing processes, payroll, project accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Further develop the accounting systems and processes to improve the function’s efficiency, reliability, and effectiveness.
- Oversee the financial management of grants, including budgeting, monitoring, and reporting.
- Ensuring timely and accurate grant reporting is made to funders and stakeholders.
- Provide effective leadership and support to the finance team creating an environment that promotes high performance, collaboration, and innovation.
- Preparing monthly reports for the Executive team and Board, including attendance at finance related board and committee meetings.
- Provide strategic input and advice to the Executive team
The Person
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA/CA preferred).
- Proven strong leadership experience as a Head of Finance / Financial Controller or similar role in a not-for-profit organisation.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, and grant management.
- Strong finance business partnering mindset.
