The Magistrates’ Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.

The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

The Drug Court (DC) is a statutory division of the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria and part of MCV Specialist Courts and Programs. The division provides an alternative sentencing option to offenders with drug and/or alcohol dependency who have committed offence/s whilst under the influence of drugs or alcohol and/or to support their dependency.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager of the Magistrates Court of Victoria (MCV) Drug Court, the Drug Court Operations Manager is responsible for the implementation and ongoing operational management of the MCV Drug Court Shepparton. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the MCV Drug Court Shepparton, the Operations Manager provides leadership, support and supervision to a diverse multidisciplinary team promoting high performance and ongoing professional development. The MCV Drug Court model embraces a unique collaboration between a range of stakeholders to deliver a high-quality program undepinned by research and emerging trends within the allied health sector.

Through this undertaking, the role must maintain and grow collaborative relationships with a range of external stakeholders within government and non-governmental agencies and local community services. The DC administers Drug Treatment Orders (DATO) under section 18Z of the Sentencing Act 1991.

Participants on a DATO receive a judicially supervised, therapeutically oriented, intensive, and integrated drug supervision and treatment regime which focuses on improving many aspects of their lives including drug dependency, physical & mental health, homelessness, education and employment, self-esteem, and family and social relationships.

About You

Extensive experience in social work, welfare, drug and alcohol or related fields with a special interest in management of health and welfare staff. Extensive experience in a leadership/senior management role that includes supervision of staff within a complex welfare, social work or governmental environment.

A minimum of 3 years in a management/leadership role is required. A tertiary qualification in health, social work, welfare or related field is desired.
