The National Office, based in South Melbourne, is seeking to employ a full-time staff member for their National Industrial and Legal Team – at a Level 6 or 7 Industrial Officer or a Level 8 Senior Industrial Officer contingent on experience. Regular interstate travel is expected.

 

Your role will be key in delivering our services, and will cover:

  • Providing industrial advice and guidance to members, Branches, and Divisions, on industrial matters and industrial disputes, and the enforcement and implementation of Enterprise Agreements and Awards.
  • Negotiating workplace grievances/issues and industrial disputes with management, including complex matters or matters of strategic significance.
  • Participating in, provide high-level technical support to, and where necessary lead major Enterprise Bargaining negotiations.
  • Research, prepare and/or advocate cases before Fair Work Australia, other tribunals, internal university, or management bodies, and speak in union and other public fora.

 

We are looking for a person with solid experience in negotiation and advocacy within a trade union, legal or community organisation. You thrive when working autonomously yet part of a wider team and can work co-operatively with Elected Officers and other Union staff. Regular interstate travel is required for this role.

The appointment will be made at NTEU Level 6 of 7 (Industrial Officer) or Level 8 (Senior Industrial Officer), depending on qualifications and/ or experience.

The salary range for level 6 is – $108,828-$119,304, Level 7 – $123,498-$136,349, and Level 8 – $140,822-$153,813.

The terms and conditions of the positions are currently in accordance with the NTEU National Union Collective Agreement 2018-2021.
