About the Opportunity
Frontyard Youth Services is an integrated youth service program provided by Melbourne City Mission (MCM). Frontyard provides a range of multidisciplinary services to meet the holistic needs of young people aged 12 to 25 years who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Frontyard’s services and programs guide young people to meet their physical, emotional, and social goals by developing pathways out of homelessness.
The purpose of this position is to lead a team of case managers in the delivery of high-quality case management services to young people experiencing homelessness, including those who may have experienced family violence or intimate partner violence, and/or who may be pregnant or parenting.
The Team Leader –Case Management ensures that the team is supported to meet targets, and the quality of services delivered are in line with the program’s service agreement with Department of Family, Fairness and Housing (DFFH), and relevant legislation and service standards. This will include, but not limited to the following programs: Housing Case Management- Young Women’s Crisis Service – Young Pregnant and Parenting, and the Amplify Pilot.
About you
We are looking for someone who can:
- Provide best-practice leadership, support, and advice in the youth specialist homelessness space to ensure a high functioning and cohesive team.
- Contribute to service development and continuous improvement, measurement, tracking, and reporting.
- Provide secondary consult to staff working with young people with multiple and complex needs and support them to develop advanced care, safety, and risk plans, including FV risk plans to meet their needs throughout their service provision including in crisis.
- Oversee the provision of referrals and best practice, healing oriented case management responses to young people.
- Develop, maintain, and leverage external partnerships to ensure the support of children, young people, and their families.
- Desirable- experience and knowledge relating to pre- and post-natal support, family preservation and child reunification, youth family violence, and collaborative practice approaches to the case managers.

Essential:
- Bachelor qualification in Youth Work, Social Sciences, Psychology or Social Work or a related tertiary qualification and extensive community sector leadership experience (minimum 4 years).
- Demonstrated experience leading, implementing and improving case management programs and services for young people (including their children) who have complex needs such as family and or/intimate partner violence, homelessness, mental health presentation or AOD related issues.
- Sound understanding of adolescent development, family violence frameworks, and the factors that can impede a young people’s development, and an understanding of the issues facing young people experiencing homelessness.
- Demonstrated experience developing, managing, and leading a multidisciplinary team, including the ability to accurately assess staff competencies, strengths, and areas of opportunity for the intention of professional learning and development.
- An extensive understanding of and commitment to a trauma informed, healing oriented approach to service delivery.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Demonstrated understanding of key Victorian policies that will impact on service system development across child, youth, and family sectors.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Child Safe Standards.
