About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead campaigns for Smart Justice for Young People – a coalition of over 30 community, health, legal and youth organisations driving evidence-based justice reform for children and young people in Victoria.

We’re looking for a campaign manager passionate about implementing effective campaign strategies, driving impactful advocacy, and shifting the media and public narrative around young people’s futures. A key focus of the role will be creating a story bank centering young people with lived experience of criminal legal systems, to build the case for community-based alternatives to police and prisons. The coalition also provides expert advice to media and decision makers.

Smart Justice for Young People’s asks are set out in our Working Together Action Plan, such as raising the age of criminal responsibility to 14 and raising the age of youth detention to 16.

The Campaign Manager role is based at Youthlaw – Victoria’s state-wide specialist community legal centre for young people – and will work closely with WEstJustice, the Centre for Innovative Justice and coalition partners.

It’s a part time role (0.6FTE). Full-time salary range $115,062 to $119,864, generous salary packaging, 11.5 % superannuation, 5 weeks annual leave, bonus end of year days, working hybrid and flexible with regular contact days in our office in Carlton.
