About the role
Leading by example in this customer-focused role the applicant must be able to communicate well within and outside of the organisation ensuring annual KPIs are met.
Excellent leadership skills and someone who can drive engagement and build strong relationships across multiple sectors, including the corporate landscape, the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community (including adults living with T1D, parents of children, friends, and relatives) will be suitable in this fast-paced role.
The successful individual needs to be self-motivated and be able to identify funding gaps to grow the T1D supporter base. In addition to JDRF signature events, delivered with the support of a National Event Manager, the Development Manager must be able to identify new beneficiary and third-party events as this is key to overall growth. All events must be financially successful returning industry appropriate ROI, impactful and delivered to a high standard.
The Victorian and Tasmanian fundraising community must be supported such that they are inspired to plan and deliver their own events and are supported to achieve and maximise their fundraising goals. The VIC/TAS Development Manager will manage and direct the volunteer Community Leadership Group.
The VIC/TAS Development Manager will work closely with National Partnership and Sponsorship Manager to build and nurture relationships with corporate partners, local business, and key stakeholders to drive local sponsorship and engagement.
Some knowledge of the Tasmanian landscape, proximity to the Melbourne CBD, the ability to work and travel interstate and intrastate as required are key considerations, noting that any work completed outside of normal business hours will be returned in TIL.
The applicant will contribute to the wider success of JDRF by demonstrating the values of Passion, Integrity, Vision, Collaboration, and Impact. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, being well-organised, proactive with the ability to inspire others will lead to success in this role.
About the Role
• Accountable for delivering $800K total gross revenue in FY25.
• Local management and delivery of JDRF signature event, the One Walk
• Management of all other state-based community fundraising activity (including One Ride, Jump, Go Blue Day, 3rd Party and Beneficiary Events) ensuring timely and supportive account management of fundraisers be it individuals, teams, schools and organisations.
• Delivery of the Welcome Program to newly diagnosed families and alignment with Community Programs offerings.
• Delivery of metropolitan and regional T1D Meetups.
• Collaboration and referrals to the Philanthropy and Partnerships team.
• Effective use of Salesforce (CRM) that accurately reflects your interactions and activity with the community.
• Establishment of good relationships with staff, the community and members of the Community Leadership Group – a local volunteer group that will support you in growing JDRF’s portfolio of relationships, events, and programs.
• Support, training and development of one direct report, the Development Coordinator Vic/Tas
• Effective use of Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
• A working with children’s check and police will be conducted prior to commencement.
• A Current, valid Licence is required.
The Ideal Candidate Should Be Ready to
- Expand two-way engagement and build rapport quickly with JDRF supporters, understanding their passions and interests and how they wish to leverage their personal, professional, and corporate networks.
- Embrace learning about the condition of type 1 diabetes and JDRF’s Research to ensure competency and the ability to share this knowledge with potential supporters.
- Nurture and grow current organisational relationships, while proactively seeking out new opportunities to deliver revenue and increase community awareness of T1D and JDRF.
- Articulate the current financial status of the State, gaps to revenue against budget and solutions for deficits, provide State based forecasts when required, analyse data and deliver event review documents.
- Embrace all training and development provided and implement this learning into their role.
- Understand JDRF’s Advocacy Program and provide referrals of suitable advocates when required.
- Understand and adhere to the FIA Code of Ethics.
- UItlise their administrative skills to deliver best outcomes promptly. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Canva is expected.
- Project manage local events including a road map of tasks, timelines, and deadlines against key milestones or metrics.
- Work autonomously and collaboratively as required with local and national teams.
- Commit to achieving the goals and mission of JDRF whilst demonstrating enthusiasm, persistence, and tenacity.
