Local Area Coordinator (Pilot) – Broadmeadows

We’re seeking an enthusiastic Local Area Coordinator to join our dedicated Programs and Innovations Team. This role involves working within the Brotherhood of St Laurence (BSL) Disability Programs and Innovations Team in an exciting Pilot Project with people with identified needs without NDIS funding.
This role is community focused, delivering the Disability Services Programs and Innovations Pilot across the Hume Merri-bek (HMA) region.
- Location:Hume Merri-bek Area – based at our BSL NDIS Hume Merri-bek Office (Broadmeadows, VIC 3047).
- Salary: A competitive remuneration package ranging from $87,886.87 – $94,565.36 per annum + 11.5% superannuation.
- Employment: Maximum-Term (until June 2025), full-time (38-40 hours per week).

ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE
As a Local Area Coordinator, you will assist people with disability to advocate, plan, organise and access the support and services needed to live an ordinary life. This includes assessing each person’s eligibility for the NDIS and engaging with the local community to assist people with disability to access mainstream services.
As part of your new role, you will:
- Support the delivery of a high quality and timely services in accordance with the contract, program guidelines, best practice principles and relevant legislative obligations.
- Implement and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure best practice is upheld and customers experience continuity of service.
- Ensure practices and processes are in place to enable service level monitoring, evaluation and reporting against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and to ensure required outcomes and performance measures are met.
- Work collaboratively within teams and management to identify opportunities for quality improvement, service development and potential resource implications.
ABOUT THE PILOT PROJECT
The Local Area Coordination Pilot is a limited funded project, run by small team delivering timely and effective assistance to clients who don’t access NDIS funding. This is achieved via the use of a proactive outreach, community-based, person centred, interim case management approach and delivers coordination activities, navigation and support.
The pilot team build community capacity and assist people with disability to access mainstream and community services. The pilot team seeks to systematically deepen community understanding of availability, affordability and accessibility of local services.
The pilot team will maintain a caseload and assist people with disability without NDIS funding to advocate, plan, organise and access the support and services needed to live an ordinary life.
This pilot will be conducted in the Hume Merri-bek region and travel within this region is an expectation of this role. This pilot will be delivered in local, community settings.
ABOUT YOU
We are seeking applicants who have:
- Relevant qualifications in fields such as Disability, Allied Health, Human Services, Social Sciences, Education, Community Services and/or
- Lived experience with disability or awareness of the impact of existing or acquired disability upon individuals, families, carers and the community
- Highly developed communication, listening and relationship building skills
- Experience in working alongside community towards common goals
- Confidence using a variety of computer programs and equipment and ability to enter information accurately
