About the organisation

Jesuit Social Services is a social change organisation working to build a just society where all people can live to their full potential. We reflect on the critical factors shaping our contemporary world; the social, political and economic contexts, and we adapt our practice to work with those most in need.

Since 1977, Jesuit Social Services has provided services to some of the most disadvantaged in our community.

We place a high priority on advocacy and are a leader in policy development and research.

About the role

The role involves delivering horticulture training to male participants (learners) who have a court mandated community work order. The aim of the training is for participants to learn valuable horticulture and employability skills while growing and harvesting fresh vegetables and herbs.

Ideally you will have experience working in community education and have an empathy for participants involved in the Justice system.

Jesuit Community College is a Community-Based RTO and Learn Local Organisation that places a high priority on supporting participants who have faced educational interruptions. The college places a strong emphasis on working with individuals who have been disengaged from learning for various reasons, helping them re-engage and continue their education, training and employment journey

We seek to link people into a community of learning, offering flexible pathways to further study, work or meaningful and fulfilling participation in community. Our aim is to provide innovative, flexible and supported training to meet individual learner’s needs.

Our programs focus on the participants themselves to ensure not only are they prepared for a successful working life but also have the confidence and motivation to achieve anything they set their mind to.
