Your Impact
As a Management Accountant you’ll be responsible for management reporting, budgeting and monitoring financial performance. The role ensures compliance with relevant legislation, funding requirements and contracts. The Management Accountant develops, maintains and supports appropriate internal controls, financial procedures and regulatory compliance mechanisms regarding the financial functions of the organisation.

The Finance team is comprised of seven staff and covers the full range of financial accounting, reporting, operations and payroll activity.  The team comprises the Finance Manager, Senior Management Accountant, Management Accountant, Assistant Accountant, Finance Officer, Payroll Coordinator, and Payroll Officer.   

The Role
Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Undertake budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis of key budgets and financial reports to deliver monthly management reporting and analysis for managers in a timely and accurate fashion to enable effective decision making and monitoring of financials.
  • Work with the executive in the preparation of program budgets.
  • Support the budget cycle by preparing the annual budget and any subsequent budget forecasts.
  • Support the Finance Manager and Senior Management Accountant in monthly management reporting and analysis by cost centre.
  • Undertake journals entries: credits and debits, accruals, prepayments, depreciation, payroll salary and salary packaging, super
  • Prepare monthly wages, superannuation and other GL account reconciliations, plus quarterly BAS return process.
  • Review fortnightly PAYG payment processed by the payroll provider and ensure accuracy of recording in the finance system
  • Manage WorkCover insurance, Fixed Asset Register, Motor Vehicle Fleet finances and analysis.

The role is an ongoing and could be full-time or part-time position (0.8-1.0 EFT) based in our Brunswick head office.

What you’ll need 
to successfully apply
To be successful, you will need to positively respond to the below selection criteria: 

  • Recognised tertiary accounting qualifications and CPA/CA qualified.
  • Experience and proven ability in the preparation of annual budgets, management accounts and financial reports.
  • Proven ability in preparation of project proposals budgeting and costing, plus management of budgets and undertaking variance analysis.
  • Prior experience in payroll, with advanced numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong financial accounting systems experience including intermediate to advanced excel skills. Preferable experience with MYOB Advanced and Velixo, or similar accounting and reporting packages.
  • Comprehensive understanding of payroll principles and best practice as well as relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks, including taxation, superannuation, and Fair Work legislation.
  • Excellent attention to detail, sound judgement, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level organisational, communication and time management skills, plus a commitment and values alignment to the purpose of Foundation House.
