Cleaning Accountability Framework (CAF) is a world-first, game-changing organisation that exists to end the exploitation of vulnerable workers and to promote human rights and responsible business practices in the property services industry.

CAF works with the union, government, academia, and the property services industry to protect and advance the rights of cleaners in Australia, and to address modern slavery risk in supply chains. Specifically, CAF has developed and promotes an industry-leading Standard that is used to assess property assets through the CAF Certification Scheme.

The CAF Certification Scheme provides a credible framework to measure social compliance within the cleaning industry. Investors, property owners, building managers, cleaning contractors and tenants benefit from improved procurement processes and reduced risks, while cleaners are assured of fair pay and decent working conditions.

About the role

  • Sydney or Melbourne location
  • 12% superannuation + 6 weeks’ annual leave (pro rata)
  • Hybrid work environment
  • 4 days, but full time will be considered for the right candidate

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the organisation and have a close working relationship with the Co-CEOs. The role has four key areas:

Finance
  • Work with the external bookkeeper on reporting, payroll and other financially based legal requirements
  • Ensure payments, invoicing, authorisations and banking are all actioned according to company procedures and policies
  • Manage acquittals and auditing process with external suppliers
  • Assist CEO with budget management, forecasting and tracking
HR and People
  • Act as the main internal contact for people & HR related matters
  • Oversee staff recruitment and onboarding
  • HR administration such as employment contracts, performance reviews and management
  • Development and review of organisational policies and procedures
  • Assist in developing and implementing Professional Development Plans and integrating learning opportunities into staff workloads
  • Monitor workforce behaviours, attitudes and team cohesion
  • Lead all workplace & culture initiatives to ensure that CAF remains a preferred place to work
  • Manage all people related processes, including performance/misconduct issues disciplinary processes, grievance and complaint procedures
  • Partner with leadership team to implement strategies for employee engagement and retention
  • Ensure consistent compliance to all relevant labour laws
  • Internal team contact and manager of HR software platform (Employment Hero)
Governance and admin
  • Assist CEO with the preparation of agendas, papers and minuting for Board and Finance, Risk, Admin and Governance Committee meetings
  • Manage Risk Register, Member Register
  • Assist the CEO with reporting required for external partners, government and key stakeholders
  • Manage office working arrangements and equipment
  • Assist team in coordination of in-person and online events
IT and data management
  • Act as the internal contact point for all IT and data management issues
  • Liaison for external IT and developer consultants
  • Ensure effective management of digital transformation, data and IT systems
  • Ensure effective utilisation of CRM and Sharepoint databases
  • Ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with organisational and regulatory standards
  • Manage software accounts, subscriptions, user access and billing
  • Project manage any data management or IT development projects
Essential selection criteria
  • 5+ years of experience in operations, project management, or a similar role, ideally within a purpose-driven organisation
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with a diverse range of people
  • Proactive and solutions-focused
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, experience with utilising or managing databases
  • Demonstrated success in streamlining processes and improving operational efficiencies
  • Advanced project management skills
  • Interest in workers’ rights or social justice
Desirable but not essential

Experience with:

  • database development projects
  • directly managing staff or teams
  • seeking advice from or working with legal teams
  • writing reports, guides or Board papers
