Your Impact
As a member of the Finance team the Payroll Officer reports to the Payroll Coordinator and is responsible for administering the timely, accurate and relevant processing of the fortnightly payroll. The incumbent will work closely with Human Resources to meet organisational objectives.
The Finance team is comprised of seven staff and covers the full range of financial accounting, reporting, operations and payroll activity. The team comprises the Finance Manager, Senior Management Accountant, Management Accountant, Assistant Accountant, Finance Officer, Payroll Coordinator, and Payroll Officer.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Support and perform accurate and timely end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing including all allowances, commencements, terminations, leave and other relevant information.
- Process timesheets, forms and salary variations, ensuring that timesheets and leave submissions recorded in the payroll system align with Enterprise Agreement entitlements and legislative requirements.
- Monitor the delivery of salary packaging, superannuation payments and other statutory and payroll related payments, to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll.
- Balance and reconcile fortnightly payroll output, including generation of documentation to Finance, such as leave liability reports, cost centre reports, pay journal, pay comparison report, general ledger interfacing report and any other reports which might be required.
- Prepare reports and correspondence and undertake other administrative tasks
- Respond to payroll and Employee Self Service (ESS) related queries from employees promptly and professionally.
- Generate routine and ad-hoc reports to ensure the effective management of Payroll and HR related information.
The role is an ongoing, part-time position (0.4-0.6 EFT) based in our Brunswick head office.
What you’ll need to successfully apply
To be successful, you will need to positively respond to the below selection criteria:
- Tertiary level and/or Business Administration qualifications would be advantageous, but not a requirement.
- Prior experience in payroll, with advanced numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience within not-for profit and in using Payroll Metrics or Preceda is desirable, but not essential.
- Comprehensive understanding of payroll principles and best practice as well as relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks, including taxation, superannuation, and Fair Work legislation.
- An understanding of salary packaging for Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) exempt organisations.
- High level organisational, communication and time management skills, plus a commitment and values alignment to the purpose of Foundation House.
