About the organisation
About the Centre for Public Impact (CPI)
At the Centre for Public Impact (CPI), we believe in the potential of governments to work differently to bring about better outcomes for people. We are a global not-for-profit organisation, founded by the Boston Consulting Group, that serves as a learning partner for governments, public sector leaders, and the diverse network of changemakers leading the charge to reimagine government. We work with our partners to collectively make sense of the complex challenges we face and drive meaningful change through learning and experimentation. CPI currently operates in 4 regions of the world, all stewarding CPI’s mission in different geographies: Asia, Australia & Aotearoa New Zealand, Europe and North America.
CPI Values:
-
Courageous - we have the courage to speak the truth, to challenge without fear and tackle the difficult questions
-
Respectful - we respect differences, we seek to understand them and we look out for one another
-
Optimistic - we are positive about what we and governments can do for our societies
-
Inclusive - we are nonpartisan, and we work together and seek ideas and solutions across the divides
CPI ANZ was established in March 2020. The current team is made up of Alli Edwards, Anika Baset, Jessica Fuller, Keira Lowther and Thea Snow. CPI ANZ is a small but agile team and therefore needs someone who is willing to work across the full spectrum of tasks - from administrative work to blue-sky thinking. We are experimental in how we work and seek to reflect the beliefs, values, and principles set in our vision for government.
CPI ANZ works with partners from across government (including teams state and Federal departments and agencies) and beyond (including philanthropy, non-profits, and community organisations) to reimagine government through the following pathways:
-
Learning Journeys: professional development and knowledge building experiences.
-
Learning Partnerships: supporting teams to embrace a learning practice and mindset through their work.
-
Research: exploring and sharing new ideas about what it means to reimagine government.
-
Convening: bringing people together to reimagine government.

About the role
What you’ll be doing
As a Programme Manager, you’ll be spreading your time across project management, program design and delivery, partnership development, community convening and engagement, supporting research, writing blogs, and hosting events among other things.
Programme Managers across all CPI teams are expected to:
-
Independently hold and manage strong and trusting partner relationships.
-
Lead discrete projects and own work streams of larger projects and develop high-quality deliverables.
-
Drive analytical and intellectual depth in work products and proactively share our work with broader CPI teams.
-
Identify and proactively propose ideas around how we can work together more effectively as a team.
More specifically, while the responsibilities for this role are fluid, major upcoming responsibilities include:
-
Convening our Reimagining Government Community of Practice to develop deeper connections and relationships across members.
-
Leading the project management for large programs with multiple stakeholders and partners within different levels of government.
-
Contributing to the development of new programs, partnerships, and research – including seeking philanthropic funding and support.
-
Contributing to the design and delivery of learning programs for policy makers and public servants.
Who are we looking for?
We’re seeking a Programme Manager for a 12-month fixed-term contract (parental leave cover), with the possibility of extension into an ongoing role.
We strongly encourage people to apply even if you don’t have all of the skills and characteristics listed below. We will be happy to receive applications from candidates who have some of these qualities already and are willing to grow in others.
The ideal candidate will:
-
Be passionate about our vision for reimagining government.
-
Have experience managing partnerships that blend programmatic and research elements.
-
Have strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to work autonomously and balance competing priorities.
-
Feel energised about the prospect of convening and building connections, relationships, and communities.
-
Possess strong interpersonal skills, including confidence in building relationships and navigating challenging conversations with stakeholders.
-
Think beyond individual tasks, drawing connections across CPI’s global teams and priorities.
-
Thrive in a fast-paced, flexible environment that doesn’t follow a traditional 9–5 structure.
-
Be curious, eager to learn, and excited about the idea of working in a small team environment.
-
Have previous experience working in or with governments (desirable but not essential).
-
Have experience creating and delivering learning experiences (desirable but not essential).
