The Australian Communications Consumer Action Network, ACCAN, is Australia’s peak body representing communications consumers.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Social Media and Content Manager who is creative, innovative, and takes strong initiative. In this role, you will play a crucial role in shaping our online presence, engaging with our audience, and building the profile of the organisation. You will be responsible for developing and implementing social media and content strategies that align with our organisation’s goals. Your communication skills will help translate our key policy priorities into engaging and informative content.
This Social Media and Content Manager position offers flexible hours, up to 30-35 per week. ACCAN welcomes applications from candidates seeking contract, casual, or part-time work arrangements. The successful candidate will report to the Media and Communications Officer. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and the chosen work arrangement. ACCAN’s office is based in the Sydney CBD, but consideration will be given to those applying from other locations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create engaging and high-quality content that builds the profile and influence of ACCAN.
- Develop and execute creative and bold social media content strategies that engage our audience.
- Use analytics to measure the effectiveness of our content and inform future strategies.
- Collaborate with our team to ensure accurate information and consistent messaging across all channels.
- Stay up to date with the latest content trends and best practices.
Essential skills:
- Bold and imaginative approach to content creation, with a focus on driving meaningful engagement and visibility.
- Strong communication skills to disseminate key policy priorities through clear and concise messaging.
- Proactive leader with strong initiative, accountability, and the ability to drive content strategy and social media engagement independently.
- Strong application of digital marketing principles, with hands-on experience developing website content and optimising for social media platforms.
- Excellent strategic, planning and analytical skills.
- Ability to apply sound graphic design principles to create visual content.
- Ability to create short-form video content for social media.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Preferred skills:
- An appropriate qualification or relevant experience suited to communications, digital marketing or related disciplines
- Prior experience in creating short-form video
- Prior experience using design software (e.g. Canva, Adobe suite) and social media management software
- Prior experience SEO Copywriting
