Your new role:

The primary purpose of the family violence recovery practitioner in the Northern Healing and Recovery Program (NHARP) is to provide support within the team, including clients. This involves responding to the needs of children, young people, and families who are affected by family violence, child wellbeing and other social issues.

A key component of this role is to facilitate the delivery of evidence-based family violence recovery group work programs and practices for women, children, young people, and families.

You will engage, develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with and between mothers/caregivers and their children/young people to support recovery and strengthen the mother/child relationship.

 

About you:

  • Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, child and family social welfare or related discipline.
  • Experience working with parents and their children who have experienced family violence.
  • Proven experience in the trauma and family violence field within similar organisations, possess a strong knowledge of the service system including all relevant legislation and standards and be tertiary qualified in social work, psychology, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the use of current theoretical approaches and best practice for working with children, young people and families.
  • Demonstrated capability to network and build productive relationships with stakeholders both inside and outside organisational boundaries.
