Located on the University of New South Wales campus, Arc is one of Australia’s biggest and best student organisations. Our mission is to provide the greatest student experience through a diverse set of services, opportunities and experiences - one of these being Food Hub.

Food Hub is a free food initiative aimed at supporting and engaging UNSW students and the broader community. Running three times a week at our Kensington campus and once a week on our Paddington campus, Food Hub has become an integral part of Arc’s operations delivering the equivalent of over 500,000 meals since inception and supporting over 65,000 visits annually.

About the role

The Food Hub Coordinator is a passionate and dedicated individual focused on food waste and sustainability. This hands-on role involves running a leading program aimed at addressing food insecurity while championing sustainability wherever possible.

Along with managing operations, the Food Hub Coordinator is the friendly face of Food Hub, tasked with creating a warm and welcoming environment for everyone – no matter the background. 

KEY TASKS & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead awesome initiatives and take charge of exciting projects to reduce food waste and promote sustainability.
  • Be the friendly face of the Food Hub, connecting with the community as well as stakeholders like UNSW and food rescue organisations.
  • Create a warm and welcoming environment for everyone, no matter their background.
  • Be a wizard with stock management by sourcing, replenishing and taking stock of our inventory.
  • Always be on the lookout for new opportunities within Arc, UNSW, and beyond.
  • Take an active role in handling pick-ups and drop-offs to the Kensington and Paddington Campuses
  • Team up with the Food Hub Community Officer to keep things running smoothly.
  • Comply with Arc Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policy and procedures to actively participate in the achievement of a safe working culture;
  • Demonstrate behaviour in accordance with Arc @ UNSW values and Code of Conduct;
  • Actively engage in fair and equitable workplace practices and behaviour to ensure discrimination-free workplace in accordance with legislative requirements;
  • Maintain an awareness of Arc’s environmental policies and procedures minimising the impact of Arc’s business on the environment.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Have a huge enthusiasm for food, eating, and diversity.
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills.
  • Experience working towards a budget and with financial/invoicing systems.
  • Confidence in your ability to problem-solve and come up with innovative solutions.
  • Strong ethical and professional work attitude.
  • A driver’s license is preferred, and bike riding ability is handy.
  • A food handling certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Knowledge of WHS and Ethical Practice, along with the ability to apply these principles in the workplace.
