Rebuilding Shattered Lives – supporting refugees to recover from torture and other traumatic events
Your Impact
The Community and Sector Capacity Building (CSCB) Program is an innovative program designed to facilitate and support the development, growth, and empowerment of communities from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds, and the education, health and community service sector that works with them. The Sector Capacity Building programs build on the capacity of the refugee and humanitarian service sector, whilst enabling mainstream education, health and mental health and wellbeing sectors to better understand the refugee and asylum seeker experience. The program works to enhance the responsiveness and effectiveness of services to people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds.
The Manager Sector Capacity Building, will lead the delivery of Sector Capacity Building (SCB) Programs focusing on building sector capability and will lead the following portfolios:
- The Victorian Refugee Health Network
- Education and Early Years Programs
- The Ucan2 Program
- Rural & Regional Services
The Manager Sector Capacity Building will lead sector capacity building initiatives of the highest quality and in accordance with the Foundation House Integrated Trauma Recovery Service Model, Rebuilding Shattered Lives, Community Capacity Building Framework, and international best practice.
The Role
The Manager Sector Capacity Building role is pivotal in building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders which have a strong interface with clients and communities of refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds with the aim of:
- Building sector capacity and capability to both understand and respond to the complex trauma associated with refugee and asylum seeker clients and communities.
- Creating positive sector experiences for refugee and asylum seeker clients and communities or sector services.
- Supporting sectors to empower and build the resilience of refugee and asylum seeker clients and communities.
- Supporting sectors to appropriately build refugee and asylum seeker client and community literacy in key areas as identified by analysis of client and community needs.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Support Providing leadership and management of the Sector Capacity Building portfolios
- Leading and driving the development and implementation of proactive, regional, and state-wide sector capacity building initiatives
- Leading and driving advocacy to support sector capability in responding to trauma recovery within refugee and asylum seeker communities.
- Maintaining key and proactive communications and partnerships with the leadership of Mental Health and Wellbeing services to ensure effective collaboration and information sharing.
The role is available as an ongoing, full-time position and is based in our Brunswick office.
What you’ll need to successfully apply
To be successful, you will need to positively respond to the below selection criteria:
- Graduate qualification in Community Development, Social Work, Public Policy, Education, or related discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in working with special interest stakeholders on complex projects and initiatives to respond to the needs of clients and communities experiencing displacement and complex trauma community groups.
- Management experience in leading, designing and implementing sector and community development programs to drive innovation and create a culture of continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated expertise in working with culturally diverse communities and recovery models.
- Expertise in shaping social and government policy and programs through sector engagement and development across various sectors including education and/or health.
- Experience in working with communities with a significant profile of refugees and asylum seekers is advantageous.
