About the role

  • Ongoing vacancy. 35 hours per week.
  • Location: This role is based in Parramatta and Sydney CBD. Flexible and hybrid working options available.
  • Clerk Grade: 9/10. Base salary $125,693 to $138,510 p.a. plus superannuation and annual leave loading.

 

About the team 

The Strategy and Governance division provides a wide range of enabling services including risk and compliance, ministerial and external relations, policy and continuous improvement

 

About the role

Leads the implementation and management of the suite of ethics, compliance, and risk management policies, strategies and governance processes for NSW Trustee and Guardian; delivering advice support and training on ethical conduct and appropriate workplace behaviours and promotes a culture of effective governance.

As a Senior Governance Officer, you will:

  • Develop and deliver ethical conduct and risk management training, education and learning resources to promote a culture of effective governance.
  • Provide expert advice and support to management and staff on diverse corporate governance, compliance, fraud, risk management and ethical issues, consistent with established government policies and procedures, legislative requirements, and professional standards.
  • Monitor, review, implement and update the suite of governance policies, procedures, and practices, including the fraud and corruption framework, ethics, compliance, quality improvement initiatives, and risk management frameworks.
  • Manage the timely reporting on public interest disclosures, in accordance with legislative requirements and raising awareness across the organisation to promote a speak up culture.
  • Oversee the quality improvement program, analyse root cause and report, influence and work collaboratively with key stakeholders to deliver results in a timely manner.
  • Develop and analyse comprehensive governance information and data and prepare management reports, including reports on continuous improvement, risk, and compliance performance.
  • Provide day to day coaching, guidance, mentoring and support to the team to assist with their on-the-job training and development if required, including reviewing quality of work and advice, and identifying any gaps in capabilities and skills to effectively manage performance of the team.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have experience in a related role championing and coordinating risk management, governance and compliance, through either a career in law or similar government role that focuses on attention to detail, problem solving, written communication, interpersonal skills, and analytical thinking. Combined with exercising sound judgement and prioritisation of work during busy times.

Essential requirements  

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, industry certifications and/or equivalent experience in delivery of corporate governance, risk management, fraud controls, quality continuous improvement and compliance management in accordance with Australian Standards.
