About the organisation
Leadership Plus is a dynamic and values driven disability advocacy organisation. Our work is funded by the Department of Social Services through the National Disability Advocacy Program (NDAP) and NDIS Appeals. We are also working on a collaborative project with the Mental Health Legal Service (MHLC) and Mind Australia on Advancing Housing Justice.
About the role
Our advocacy supports individuals to understand and assert their rights, access services, and participate fully in community life. We are committed to promoting human rights, social inclusion, and systemic change.
We welcome applications from individuals who are passionate about social justice, particularly students or graduates in law, social work, or psychology. This is a rewarding opportunity to build skills in disability rights advocacy while making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
Duties:
Provide individual advocacy, including:
Provision of information regarding rights and entitlements.
A focus on outcomes with the development of an advocacy plan.
Building rapport with clients and their support networks through regular meetings either by phone, video calls or in person.
A willingness to travel to meetings in community locations.
Resourcing individuals or groups to facilitate their own advocacy efforts (self-advocacy).
Consideration of the diversity of needs and intersection of various communities.
Managing a caseload and the administrative requirements including the maintenance of relevant client data and records.
Participating in regular intake meetings, team planning, staff meetings and systemic work.
Any other reasonable duties associated with achieving the stated objectives of the position and the organisation.
