About the organisation

Organisation Name : Merri Outreach Support Service

At Merri Outreach Support Service (MOSS), we're driven by a clear purpose: to end homelessness, sustain housing, and strengthen communities. Since 1989, we've been supporting people experiencing or at risk of homelessness to access housing, support services, and a better future.

We believe that everyone deserves a safe, secure place to call home. Our work focuses on the root causes of homelessness and seeks to create inclusive, supportive communities where people feel welcomed, connected, and empowered. We support individuals, families, and children facing complex challenges, providing them with compassionate, holistic care tailored to their needs.

About the role

This isn’t just a job—it’s a chance to make a tangible difference in people’s lives every day.

As an Outreach Case Manager in our Hume Program, you’ll walk alongside individuals and families who are homeless or at risk, helping them navigate housing pathways, access vital services, and build stability for the future. Working in a team-based case management model, you won’t be alone—your ideas, experience, and insights will be valued as part of a collaborative and caring team.

You’ll spend much of your time out in the community, meeting people where they are—in their homes, temporary accommodations, or wherever support is needed. Your work will support them to achieve their goals, become more self-reliant, and access the safety and dignity that stable housing can provide.

ABOUT YOU

You’re passionate about social justice and experienced in providing case management or similar support to people experiencing disadvantage. You understand the impact that homelessness has on individuals and families—and you’re committed to doing something about it.

You’ll ideally have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. social work, community services, youth work), or extensive experience in the field

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with people from diverse backgrounds

  • Confidence working both independently and in a collaborative team model

  • Great organisational skills—able to juggle competing priorities and keep accurate case notes

  • Familiarity with the homelessness sector and frameworks like the Opening Doors model is a bonus, but not essential

What matters most is your empathy, resilience, and commitment to supporting people with dignity and respect.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS

We take care of our team so they can take care of the community. At MOSS, you’ll enjoy:

  • Generous above-award conditions including paid lunch breaks and extra personal leave

  • Salary packaging options to boost your take-home pay

  • Supportive work culture grounded in transparency, empathy, and inclusion

  • Additional paid leave between Christmas and New Year

  • Employee Assistance Program and wellbeing supports

  • Opportunities for professional development and meaningful career growth

  • A workplace where your values and work are aligned, and where every day, you know you’re making a difference
