About the role
Company Director – Lived Experience
Consistent with its commitment to human rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and acknowledging the rich experience people with lived experience bring to the boardroom, the Board is seeking to appoint a director with personal lived experience of a mental health condition and an understanding of the challenges of navigating the mental health system as the current Lived Experience designated director comes to the end of the maximum term.
Flourish Australia is seeking to add to its board of passionate, diverse and inclusive directors by recruiting a director with strong governance experience and firsthand knowledge of the mental health sector.
The successful director will have lived experience of a mental health challenge and personal experience navigating the mental health system in Australia in addition to experience in one or more of the following;
- lived and living experience policy development and advocacy
- safety and risk management
- public relations including fundraising, media, and stakeholder engagement.
- experience working within health, human services, and ideally, the not-for-profit/for-purpose community service sector;
- experience working as, and with, Committee Chairs; and
- experience in corporate management, business acumen and commercial experience.
An understanding of the obligations of company directors, including Australian Charities and Not for Profits Commission (ACNC) Governance Standards, and the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Not for Profit Governance Principles, is essential. Prior completion of the AICD Company Directors Course would be highly valued.
