About the organisation

Organisation Name : Centre for Multicultural Youth

The Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) is a not-for-profit organisation based in Victoria. Through direct program and service delivery, advocacy and capability building, we shape culture so that multicultural young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds are connected, empowered and influential Australians.

About the role

We are looking for passionate, client-focused individual who can work independently and can demonstrate an ability to work within a fast-paced and complex environment.

Delivered by CMY for more than 20 years, YRIPP is a key state-wide, 24/7 program aimed at protecting the legal rights of young people in police custody. YRIPP delivers a high quality system of adult volunteers called “Independent Persons” who attend police interviews with young people in police custody when a parent or guardian is not available. YRIPP also seeks to divert young people from future offending through early intervention.

As a member of the YRIPP Leadership team, the Coordinator of Volunteers (CoV) will provide leadership, coordination and support to implement a high quality, client focused service response for young people and the Independent Persons who support them. Working within an integrated model, your role will focus on building collaborative relationships for targeted recruitment of volunteers and oversee YRIPP volunteer governance to ensure high standards of service provision for young people are maintained.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a demonstrated background in working with volunteers and a strong commitment to social justice. The successful candidate will bring a commitment to deliver high-quality advocacy and will be a problem solver who brings initiative to improving processes and outcomes for young people engaged in the youth justice system.
