Knowledge & Learning Officer
Join the Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL) as a passionate Knowledge and Learning Officer and play a key role in driving impact and innovation with our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the research and learning function of the BSL Library, contributing to our research, policy and advocacy initiatives.
Location: Fitzroy
Job Type: Permanent Part-Time (22.6 hours per week)
Salary: $104,063.34 – $108,744.43 per annum, based on skills and experience plus superannuation in accordance with applicable legislation (pro-rata for part-time employment)

About the role:
The Knowledge and Learning Officer plays a key role in supporting the BSL Library, with a focus on research and learning services. This position helps build organisational knowledge around BSL’s history, research, policy, and practice, ensuring that advocacy efforts are evidence-based and widely shared.

Deliver specialist research and information services to support BSL’s research, policy and advocacy, including evidence reviews and resource development.

Manage and maintain library systems, collections, archives and knowledge hubs, ensuring accessible and up-to-date resources for internal and external users.

Develop and deliver training and learning initiatives on BSL’s history, frameworks and research approach, including learning series and user guidance.

Lead and support library volunteers, promoting collaboration, inclusion, and professional development within the team.

Ensure ethical, safe and high-quality practices, aligning with BSL’s frameworks, policies and procedures, including those relating to research ethics, privacy, and child safety.

What we are looking for:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a passion for supporting the mission of BSL and delivering excellence in your role.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who has the following key skills and experiences:

Relevant tertiary qualification in library/information science, social sciences or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years’ professional experience.

Extensive experience in research, library or information services, ideally in a social policy or not-for-profit context, including conducting systematic reviews and reporting to stakeholders.

Strong understanding of research methodologies, ethical research practices, data management, and knowledge of copyright law and archival systems.

High-level digital literacy and technical skills, with experience using digital library systems such as KOHA and DSpace, and managing databases and information systems.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and training skills, with the ability to engage diverse users, deliver learning programs, and support inclusive and respectful workplace culture.
