Web Developer

The Brotherhood of St Laurence is seeking a passionate Web Developer to join our dedicated team in Strategy and Impact.

Location: Fitzroy

Job Type: Permanent Full-Time working 38 hours per week

Salary: $100,544.29 to $105,096.07 per annum, based on skills and experience plus 11.5% superannuation. (pro-rata for part-time employment)

About the role

The Web Developer is responsible for the development, maintenance, and optimisation of BSL’s digital platforms. 

  • Maintain and undertake front-end and back-end web development across BSL’s websites using a variety of tools (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, CMS platforms like WordPress, Typo3, Craft, Magento and Drupal)
  • Develop and deploy clean code that follows best practices
  • Test both new and existing functionality and correct potential errors that may arise across BSL’s websites
  • Review BSL’s websites to deliver improved information architecture, functionality and content strategy
  • Implement and maintain reporting using web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Tag Manager), across all digital platforms to ensure accurate measurement of user engagement, campaign performance, and conversion goals
  • Develop and manage Power BI dashboards that visualise key website and digital campaign metrics, enabling stakeholders to monitor performance and make data-informed decisions.

What we are looking for

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a passion for supporting the mission of BSL and delivering excellence in your role.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who has the following key skills and experiences:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in web development, computer science, programming, and/ or information technology or equivalent experience 
  • Demonstrated experience in contributing to the development and maintenance of websites
  • Proven experience in front-end and back-end web development (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, CMS platforms like WordPress, Magento or Drupal)
  • Proficient understanding of version control tools (GitHub/Bitbucket); including best practices in managing repositories
  • Ability to write clean and reusable code, including following best coding practices
