About the organisation

Organisation Name : Lighthouse Foundation

Lighthouse Foundation provides homes and therapeutic care programs to children and young people impacted by long-term neglect, abuse, and homelessness. Our focus is to create caring communities where kids can feel safe, form meaningful relationships, and begin to heal from traumatic experiences. For the past 30 years, our proven Model of Care has successfully transformed the lives of over 1,000 young people using a range of evidence-based strategies. We now educate and support Foster Carers in the same way, so that they too can take care of some of Australia’s most vulnerable children.

About the role

The Lighthouse Young Parent and Babies Program provides therapeutic care to enrich the safety, attachment, physical and emotional development for trauma-impacted young parents (under 25 years old) and their babies/children. The primary duties will involve a combination of case management, delivery of individualised and community therapeutic interventions and leadership of Therapeutic Carers supporting the home. You will ensure a predictable and safe environment is established through routines and a reflective culture is embedded to support the Therapeutic Carers to have empathy and curiosity for the young people’s experiences. Lighthouse Foundation utilises trauma-informed practice, attachment theory, and psychoanalytic principles of emotional development to create a holistic therapeutic treatment environment.

This role works within a multi- disciplinary team to support the young people in their care with the aim of keeping families together, and supporting families to transition into stable, long-term living arrangements post their time at Lighthouse. The role will be based within our Coburg North and Clayton Lighthouse homes, as well as the Youth Resource Hub.
