About the team:

The Trauma Consultancy Service (TraCS) is primarily funded through School Readiness Funding, to help children start developmentally on track, by enhancing supports for kindergarten services and educators.

About the role

About the role:

Full-time, 2 year contract role

Reporting into the Program Manager, TraCS, a Trauma Consultancy Service (TraCS) Practitioner provides in-the-moment coaching and support to build the capacity of educators to provide trauma sensitive and attuned environments and relationships with their children and families.

Formally based in South Melbourne, the TraCS Practitioner will work predominantly with kindergartens and early childhood services in the Western Region.

To make an impact in this role, you will:

  • Provide a mix of on-site and virtual guidance and support to early childhood educators and teachers, to strengthen their skills in working with children affected by trauma
  • Undertake trauma informed assessments within kindergartens and early childhood education and services
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships to ensure effective program delivery
  • Support teachers and early childhood educators to create safe and supportive learning environments for children who have experienced trauma
  • Provide guidance and support to educators regarding the implementation of trauma informed approaches

Experience required:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in social welfare such as Social Work or Psychology, with eligibility for membership of professional organisation (i.e. AASW or APS) or other qualifications suitable for practice in the child and family welfare field (essential)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience providing high quality, complex case management to children, youth, and families in the context of violence or abuse and trauma (essential)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practice models and theories relating to children, families, trauma and violence or abuse
  • Demonstrated experience in translating relevant and emerging knowledge and theory into practice
  • Hold a current drivers’ license and willingness and ability to use own vehicle (expense reimbursement provided)
