That’s why we’re seeking a people-centred, strategic and values-aligned leader to take on the critical role of Manager – People Care.

About the role

This isn’t just another HR leadership role. As Manager – People Care, you’ll lead a talented team of People & Culture Business Partners and Health, Safety & Wellbeing professionals, helping to shape the experience of a diverse and purpose-driven workforce.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders to provide expert advice and strategic guidance on everything from complex employee relations, health safety and wellbeing, through to driving cultural change and building leadership capability across the organisation.

In short, you’ll be the connective tissue between our people vision and day-to-day reality, ensuring that BSL’s practices are grounded in integrity, compassion, safety, and fairness.

Why this role matters

We’re in a dynamic phase of organisational growth and transformation. This role is pivotal in integrating our business partnering functions, fostering team cohesion, and aligning people systems and practices with our bold social mission. • Overseeing complex employee relations, enterprise agreements, and workforce planning
  • Embedding a proactive and inclusive health safety and wellbeing culture, with a safety-first mindset
  • Driving continuous improvement across people systems, policies, and partnering services
  • Using data and insight to inform decision-making, strategy and operational performance
  • Building trusted relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including unions and regulators
  • Championing equity, child safety, psychological wellbeing, and cultural safety across all initiatives

What you bring

  • 7+ years in senior People & Culture and Health Safety and Wellbeing leadership roles within complex, purpose-led organisations
  • Strong expertise in HR strategy, workforce planning, employee relations, health safety and wellbeing
  • A collaborative leadership style with a strong commitment to coaching and capability building
  • Courage, empathy, and confidence to navigate ambiguity, challenge respectfully, and advocate for people
  • A values-aligned and trauma-informed approach to complex workplace matters
  • Excellent communication skills and executive presence
  • Deep knowledge of Australian IR/ER and OH&S legislation, awards and employment frameworks
  • Experience working with diverse communities and a demonstrated commitment to inclusion

You’ll thrive in this role if you…

  • Love bringing clarity and calm to complex situations
  • Want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of staff and the communities they serve
  • Value human-centred design and systemic thinking in your leadership approach
  • Are passionate about safe, inclusive, and high-performing workplaces
  • Seek a role where your leadership directly contributes to long-lasting social impact

What we offer

  • The opportunity to shape culture and practice in a nationally respected NFP
  • A genuinely inclusive, supportive and purpose-driven work environment
  • Generous salary packaging benefits to increase your take-home pay
  • Flexibility and hybrid work options
  • Opportunities for learning, development, and professional growth
