About the role
This role is required to deliver high-quality commercial legal advice, with a particular emphasis on contract law, to NSW Trustee and Guardian and its customers. By serving as the main source of expertise in commercial legal matters, the incumbent ensures that both the organisation and its customers are well-informed and compliant with relevant laws and regulations, thereby supporting effective decision-making and risk management. In addition, the role oversees a team responsible for the property legal and conveyancing requirements of our customer.
About You
You are a highly experienced legal professional with a current unrestricted practising certificate in NSW, bringing substantial expertise in commercial and contract law. You have strong acumen to navigate complex legal landscapes within the public sector. You excel in providing strategic legal advice across enterprise functions, ensuring compliance with government policies and mitigating legal risks. You are adept at managing disputes, resolving disagreements, and safeguarding the organisation’s interests through sound legal judgment. Your approach is proactive and solutions-orientated, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to upholding legal and ethical standards.
The suitable candidate will need to possess:
- Current unrestricted NSW practising certificate
- Expert knowledge in commercial and contract law
- Strong negotiation skills
- Demonstrated experience in risk management and dispute resolution
- Deep understanding of compliance requirements and government policies
- Ability to work collaboratively across enterprise functions
- High-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strategic thinking and legal problem-solving capabilities
- Experience in government procurement desirable.
