Improving health and wellbeing for Victorians of refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds
Your impact
Foundation House is looking for a passionate and energetic Program Support Officer to support the work of the Victorian Refugee Health Network.
The Community and Sector Capacity Building (CSCB) Program is an innovative program designed to facilitate and support the development, growth, and empowerment of communities from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds, and the education, health and community service sector that works with them. The Sector Capacity Building programs build on the capacity of the refugee and humanitarian service sector, whilst enabling mainstream education, health and mental health and wellbeing sectors to better understand the refugee and asylum seeker experience. The program works to enhance the responsiveness and effectiveness of services to people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds.
The Victorian Refugee Health Network (VRHN) sits within the CSCB program area at Foundation House and has the objective of building the capacity of health, community and settlement services to provide more accessible and appropriate health care for people of refugee backgrounds.
The Network’s key activities are:
- building the capacity of the Victorian health sector to respond to health concerns experienced by people of refugee backgrounds and improve health equity.
- supporting services to be more accessible to people from refugee backgrounds particularly in regional and outer metropolitan areas.
- improve health service coordination for humanitarian arrivals and those with more complex needs.
The role
Reporting to the Program Coordinator – Victorian Refugee Health Network, the Program Support Officer is responsible for delivering high level secretariat, administration and communication support across the Network.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide high level administrative secretariat support to the VRHN Program Coordinator and Sector Development Advisor for the Network’s Executive meetings, coordination meetings and Working Group forums, including scheduling, preparing agendas and accurate documentation of meeting discussion and decisions.
- Ensure clear, timely and consistent communication between the Program Coordinator, Sector Development and Policy Advisor, VRHN Executive Group and project team members.
- Manage general external enquiries and monitor the communications email inbox ensuring timely, accurate and professional responses, escalating queries as required.
- Coordinate and contribute to development and dissemination of the regular VRHN e-bulletin for stakeholders
- Monitor and contribute to the administration of the VRHN website and ensure information is accurate, accessible, up to date, relevant and consistent
- Contribute to the Network’s role in developing and disseminating communication to the health and community sector including coordination support of social media content and platforms to ensure strong reach and engagement.
This role is available as a part-time (0.4 EFT), 12-month fixed term position and is based on site in our Brunswick office.
What you’ll need to successfully apply
To be successful, you will need to positively respond to the below selection criteria:
- Strong organisational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks to achieve project objectives.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly strong editing skills and attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills in Word, Adobe suite, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and other platforms such as MailChimp, Campaign Monitor, Eventbrite etc.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to create productive working relationships.
- Qualifications or experience in health, policy, community development or related field will be highly regarded
