Lead with purpose. Drive social change. Create lasting impact for women and children.

Annie North is seeking a visionary and values-driven Chief Executive Officer to lead their organisation into its next era of growth and influence.

About the Organisation

Annie North supports women and children experiencing domestic and family violence, delivering crisis and refuge accommodation, and providing after-hours family violence response across the Loddon region. They honour the diverse lived experiences of the women and children they work with – including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse women, women with disabilities, women without residency status, and LGBTQIA+ communities. Their work challenges systemic barriers, dispels harmful stereotypes, and promotes safety, empowerment, and lasting recovery for every person they support.

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity due to the resignation of the current CEO who has been in the organisation for 35 years. It is a unique and rewarding opportunity for a dynamic and experienced woman to take on the Chief Executive Officer role and steer the organisation in a new chapter of growth. In this diverse and impactful role, you will:
  • Lead the strategic direction and operational success of Annie North
  • Champion inclusive, intersectional feminist leadership and embed lived experience into service delivery
  • Work in partnership with a supportive Committee of Management
  • Foster collaborative sector relationships, partnerships and stakeholder engagement
  • Ensure financial sustainability, governance compliance, and strong organisational systems
  • Lead a passionate team to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed, evidence-based services

This position is only open to women in accordance with the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic), Section 28, and is a special measure under Section 12 of the Act.

About You

We’re seeking a values-driven leader who shares Annie North’s commitment to gender equity, social justice, and intersectionality. Politically savvy and skilled at navigating complex stakeholder relationships, you’ll advocate confidently for our clients and represent the organisation with a strong, outward-facing presence. Your sharp thinking, high emotional intelligence, and ability to inspire will make you a trusted voice and effective change-maker.

With executive experience in family violence, feminist practice, and human rights, you excel at forging impactful partnerships, leading high-performing teams, and managing compliance in complex, government-funded environments. You bring a proven record of driving systemic change, influencing policy, and embedding feminist and human rights-based frameworks, underpinned by strong strategic, governance, and financial management expertise.

Tertiary qualifications are essential, and postgraduate studies in management, public policy, or a related field are highly regarded. Above all, you will have the courage, skill, and presence to be a powerful advocate for those we serve and to strengthen partnerships that advance our mission.

The Offer

The Chief Executive Officer reports to the Annie North Committee of Management. An attractive remuneration package of circa $200k + Super + Vehicle will be offered to the successful candidate. Attractive PBI/NFP salary packaging is also available. Relocation costs to Bendigo will be considered. The position is full time, offered on a three-year contract with the possibility of a two-year extension.
