Your impact
The Mental Health and Wellbeing (MHW) Area of Foundation House delivers evidence-based best practice interventions that are trauma-informed and trauma-focused. Services are culturally safe and responsive to individuals and their families.

The MHW Area supports the recovery of individuals and families through the application of its Counsellor Advocate model and all services are delivered according to the Foundation House Integrated Trauma Recovery Service ModelRebuilding Shattered Lives: Integrated Trauma Recovery for People of Refugee Background (2nd edition), and international best practices

The Regional Manager North reports to the General Manager Mental Health and Wellbeing (GMMHW) and is responsible for the safe, effective person-centred and connected delivery of specialist trauma informed and trauma focussed direct (client) services to refugee background survivors of torture and other traumatic events in the northern region of Melbourne.

The role
The Regional Manager North provides leadership, management oversight and expertise in the delivery of counselling, advocacy, and other therapeutic interventions at individual, family and group levels, and contribute to community and service system capacity building in collaboration with other programs across Foundation House.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership, management direction and oversight of the operations of the North regional staff team and site (approximately 40 staff).
  • Build a strong a regional leadership team with direct line management of Team Leaders – establish key priorities with them and support them in their development.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality services that are safe, effective, connected and person-centred and meet the needs of clients and refugee communities.
  • Achieving key deliverables and targets (internal and external) as detailed in the strategic plan and contractual arrangements with funders.
  • Prioritise and implement plans for the learning, development and support of staff in their work.
  • Ensuring all staff have an engaged, safe, healthy, supportive and productive workplace environment.
  • Managing the north regional budget and actively contributing to budget variance reporting and budget development.

To be effective in their role, the Regional Manager North needs to develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with key partners, service providers, community organisations, clients and client community groups across the Northern metropolitan region

The role is available as a full-time, ongoing position in our Broadmeadows (Dallas) office.

What you’ll need to successfully apply
To be successful, you will need to positively respond to the below selection criteria:

  • Post graduate qualifications in social work, psychology or other relevant qualification or a relevant tertiary qualification combined with relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership and management of high-quality service provision in community, health or mental health settings, meeting contracted service delivery targets in accordance with organisational standards, policy and procedures.
  • Expert knowledge, skills and experience in comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment and therapeutic intervention with clients of all ages presenting with complex trauma and mental health challenges.
  • Detailed and sophisticated understanding of client risk, risk assessment and capacity to support team leaders and counsellor advocates in assessing, managing and responding effectively and sensitively to client risk.
  • Proven ability to engage, lead and build teams, develop staff skills and effectively manage change.
  • Understanding of trauma recovery principles, psychosocial models supporting trauma recovery, and an understanding of trauma specialist practice.
