Founded in 1989, the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Foundation is the fundraising arm of the Royal Children’s Hospital, one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals. The RCH Foundation has the vital role of raising and distributing donated funds to the hospital, enabling the very best patient and family care and support, and saving and improving the lives of our sickest children. About the role

Join Our Team as a Special Events Coordinator!

Are you passionate about making a difference in children’s health? We are now recruiting for a full-time, fixed-term (14-month) Special Events Coordinator, to take responsibility for planning, executing, and evaluating the RCH Foundation’s Fundraising Gala Dinner, engaging both current and prospective donors from high-net-worth and corporate communities through a regular, social, and uplifting fundraising occasion.

The Role

The Special Events Coordinator reports to the Manager, Corporate Partnerships and works closely with the wider fundraising and cross‑departmental teams to achieve ambitious sponsorship and fundraising targets while strengthening the RCH Foundation’s brand. The role ensures world‑class event delivery, exceptional VIP guest experience, and maximises fundraising outcomes.

About You

  • You are purpose driven and committed to the mission and values of the RCH Foundation
  • You have 3+ years of proven success managing large-scale fundraising events or a Gala Dinner with 500+ attendees, ideally including experience working with corporate partners within a not-for-profit environment across sponsorship, and donations
  • You have a demonstrated ability to meet or surpass multi million‑dollar event fundraising targets and secure significant sponsorships with a proven track record of selling out events. Ideally this includes excellence in event coordination, and you have led or co-produced medium to large scale events
  • You have strong project management skills, including budget oversight, logistics, vendor negotiation and risk management
  • You have broad stakeholder management experience, including building and maintaining relationships at senior levels (Board, Special Events Committee and CEOs) and within corporate and philanthropic sectors, as well as with members of the public.
  • You have excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving and presentation skills.
  • You have advanced computer literacy, including the Microsoft Office Suite and are proficient in project-management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, Monday.com) and CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
  • You are available to work evenings and weekends during peak event periods.
  • You are confident in your work, but know when and how to consult others to keep work moving, to achieve the best results and to avoid risk
  • You have a commitment to personal development

Key Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end delivery of large-scale fundraising events
  • Proven success in achieving and exceeding fundraising KPIs with real life examples of previous experience including any imagery and post event report examples
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional team management capability
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused
  • Ability to manage competing priorities under pressure

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a highly supportive team which consistently rates its culture as one of the best things about working at the RCH Foundation
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development
  • The chance to make a real impact in the community
  • Competitive salary and benefits package, including:

    • Salary packaging (up to $15,900)
    • Leave loading
    • Three bonus days of leave between Christmas and New Year for the office close-down period
