Sony Foundation is the charitable arm of the Sony group of companies in Australia. Our mission is to capitalise on the unique qualities of Sony and contribute to the advancement of the Australian community by assisting its youth and fostering their talents.
We are looking for a Charitable Projects Intern to assist in the coordination of various programs and events managed by Sony Foundation. This role includes assisting the Partnership Manager with the administration of the Foundation’s national Children’s Holiday Camp Program, as well as assisting the National Event Manager and Communications Manager across an array of exciting projects and events and providing support to the day-to-day operations of the Foundation.
Since we are a small team, we are looking for someone with a hands-on approach who is willing to dabble in all business areas and really hit the ground running!
In this role, you will:
– Assist with Sony Foundation’s Children’s Holiday Camp Program including communicating regularly with host schools and assisting with their queries, broadening and developing the current program with new projects, planning, preparing for, and attending (if possible) the annual conference (2017 Conference hosted in Mackay in July), managing camp applications and orders and overseeing the program’s administrative tasks
– Assist with event preparation including sourcing donated prizes and stock, physical collateral preparation, ‘creative’ tasks, and management of guest lists through EventsAir
– Assist with the organisations communications tasks including assisting with social media, proof reading print drafts, offering creative input, identifying key stories from various project areas
– Assist with drafting letters, agreements and emails
– Assist with administrative tasks including mail-outs, physical and online record-keeping
– Report to Sony Foundation’s General Manager and provide special assistance as needed
Desired skills and experience:
– Highly organised with the ability to plan, act and evaluate situations independently
– Basic knowledge of the broad non-profit industry in Australia
– Ability to contribute to administrative and corporate development tasks
– Approach tasks in a creative, efficient and innovative way, and offer new ideas
– High level of energy and drive to get involved and succeed
– Common sense approach, maturity and enthusiasm
– Strong attention to detail
– Willingness to learn, adapt and develop
– Someone who isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty and willing to undertake tasks of all levels
The successful candidate will be an advocate of the work that charities, such as the Sony Foundation do to provide real support for various groups in our community. As such, past involvement as a Children’s Holiday Camp Companion or any previous work or volunteering experience with a not-for-profit organisation will be highly regarded, but is not essential. Tertiary education is also desired.
