About the role

Diocesan Advisory Committees Vacancies

The Catholic Diocese of Broken Bay (www.dbb.org,au) extends from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Sydney’s North Shore and the Central Coast across a broad area covering 2,400 square kilometres.  It is home to many Catholics, comprising more than 25,000 people who gather every week in 26 parishes to celebrate Mass.  There are 44 schools educating over 18,000 students and employing over 1,900 teachers. The Diocese supports thousands of people in the local community through health and age care, education, social care and support services.

The Diocese is under the pastoral care and leadership of Bishop Peter Comensoli and provides oversight to the parishes, schools, agencies and ministries that serve the people within the Diocese. Ensuring that these services are provided effectively and efficiently, Bishop Comensoli is currently seeking expressions of interest from people who may wish to undertake the role of a voluntary Committee member to support him in an advisory capacity on a number of Committees including:

·                Diocesan Finance Council

·                Diocesan Investment Committee

·                Diocesan Audit & Risk Committee

·                Catholic Development Fund

Potential applicants are asked to volunteer their time in order to attend meetings at least four times a year at the Chancery Offices located at Pennant Hills as well as other ad hoc meetings as required. The Audit & Risk Committee holds three of its four annual meetings within the Sydney CBD.

Applicants will need to have considerable expertise in business administration and be of outstanding integrity along with a demonstrated understanding and commitment to the Catholic ethos and values of the Church.

When appointing a nominee, Bishop Comensoli will consider the following experience, qualifications and desirable skills sets:

·                Business Administration

·                Investment & Funds Management

·                Finance and Accounting

·                Corporate Governance

·                Audit & Risk Management

·                Church mission

·                Non-for-profit sector
