Who can be a PANDA Community Champion?
Women and men with a personal experience of perinatal mental illness can become a Community Champion. What we mean by personal experience is that you have experienced perinatal anxiety and/or depression or postnatal psychosis or supported a partner or family member through their experience.
Just as perinatal mental illness has many faces, so do our team of Community Champions. There really is something for everyone. The will to help, along with computer access, is all you need
What do PANDA Community Champions do?
Community Champions conduct awareness raising activities in their local communities in order to promote the importance of early identification and treatment, PANDA’s services and reduce the stigma associated with perinatal mental illness.
Community Champions can choose from a wide range of activities to suit their personal interests, skills and availability which can range from distributing PANDA resources to hosting awareness raising fundraising events to support PANDA. The program is super flexible so you get to choose the extent of your involvement with activities such as:
– Community awareness
– Sharing your story
– Media
– Community fundraising
– Writing and research
How do I get involved?
It is important to consider where you are in your recovery journey before applying. It is crucial that you are recovered enough to be able to raise awareness especially if you want to share your personal experience. It’s really important to look after your own well-being.
