Sector : Overseas Aid & Development
About the role
Organisation: Our Rainbow House (http://ourrainbowhouse.org.au). We fund and run a primary school in Zambia (Africa) for the most disadvantaged children in a community near the capital of Lusaka.
Location: Can work remotely from anywhere (note: the central office is in Emerald, Queensland), however preference will be given to Melbourne and Brisbane based people as this is where we wish to focus our fundraising efforts this year.
Time required: Start asap
Duration of project: negotiable, prefer ongoing
Skill area: Fundraising, marketing, events planning
Key areas of responsibility:
(1) Initially help to come up with a fundraising strategy for Our Rainbow House. Traditionally we have focussed much of our fundraising efforts in Emerald however given the droughts and the hardships farmers in Central Queensland are facing we need to refocus our efforts. We have board members in Brisbane and Melbourne who are keen to help out but do not have fundraising backgrounds. Additionally our efforts in the past have focussed on less efficient fundraising methods such as selling raffle tickets outside the local hardware shop on a Saturday morning, we are keen to better utilise our social media pages and broaden our scope of fundraising ideas.
(2) We also have a sponsorship program which is also mostly funded by Central Queensland based farmers. Again, given the hardships they are facing we are keen to expand our sponsorship base. We are looking for volunteers who can help us promote Our Rainbow House sponsorship nationally.
(3) In order to execute on our fundraising strategy we will require volunteers who are experienced in planning and running events.
