About the role

Our Treasurer acts together with the Chairperson and Secretary as Directors of Open Door Youth Housing Support Service Limited.  We have three other Board members at present, making a total of six members.

The Service holds monthly Board Meetings, at present via Zoom, where the Treasurer presents the monthly Financial reports to the Board.  The Treasurer is supported by the bookkeeper, accountant and the Service Manager to deliver these reports, monitor income and expenditure, annual financial planning and budgets and to oversee the Annual Audit.

Our Board is made up of six individuals who together, bring a broad range of skills and experience.

Our members are from the mental health, education, community services, employment services, financial management and legal sectors.

While the Board takes the business of governing the Service very seriously, it is a friendly, harmonious gathering of those who are committed to delivering a high quality service to our young clients.

We believe that every young person deserves safe housing, a sense of belonging within their community, freedom to make their own choices and the opportunities to become independent.

Our Service is one of the longest running Specialist Housing Support (SHS) services in NSW.

We have a proud history of providing support to young homeless people in the St. George and Sutherland areas, since 1983.

We specialise in supporting young people who are managing their mental health, are newly arrived and/or who have complex needs.

We receive annual funding of approximately $290,000 from the Department of Communities and Justice.  As a small service, with four part time employees, our financial activities are modest, straightforward, with unblemished audit history.

Our Staff team is made up of two highly skilled Caseworkers, our Bookkeeper and our Manager.

The team has many years experience, working in the homelessness sector.  We share a strong committment to support young people towards positive outcomes, working with our partners and community. 

Sadly, our current Treasurer has let us know that they will be leaving us soon, so we're seeking a new recruit to join our supportive Board.
