Time required : Your commitment will include 7 scheduled meetings of directors, an AGM, meetings of committees of directors where appropriate and an annual strategy session.

About the role

Coast Shelter is governed by a nine-member board who are expected to understand the duties and responsibilities of directors and add value through:

  • bringing an independent and fresh perspective to decision making;
  • possessing relevant competency, experience and ethical behaviour;
  • challenging, questioning and monitoring the CEO and senior management; and
  • accessing their external networks to benefit Coast Shelter.

Two casual vacancies exist on the Coast Shelter board. Directors who are appointed this way are required to stand for election at the subsequent AGM.

Once applications have been received and assessed by the nominations committee, potential candidates will be interviewed and then offers made to fill a casual vacancy on the board ahead of our AGM. At the AGM anyone appointed to fill a casual vacancy will be required to step down and be elected to fill a position.  All directors are required to become members of the company, give the company their signed consent to act as a director of the company and not be ineligible to be a director under the Corporations Act or the ACNC Act.

Central Coast Emergency Accommodation Services Ltd ("Coast Shelter") is a leading specialist homelessness and domestic and family violence service provider on the NSW Central Coast. We operate 9 crisis refuges, a community centre, social enterprises, plus a number of transitional properties across the region.
