About the role
As a Board Member of HKCT, you will be expected to participate in:
• constructively challenging and helping to develop proposals on strategy of HKCT;

• monitoring the performance of management in meeting agreed goals and objectives and ensuring that the necessary financial and human resources are in place to enable HKCT to meet those goals and objectives;
• satisfying yourself as to the adequacy and integrity of financial and other reporting to the board and members and that there are adequate systems of internal control; and

HKCT is providing care and services to people who are older, who may have a disability and may be vulnerable. Therefore, your duty and responsibility extends to the quality of service that HKCT clients receive. Your role as part of the board therefore includes assessing the extent to which clients feel they are being supported to the extent that they expect, that services and supports meet quality standards and that clients are being treated in accord with the values of the organisation
About the organisation
Established in 1987, HKCT is a client focused organisation, providing clean, safe, reliable transport services to the aged and the transport disadvantaged across Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai LGAs. Through these activities we aim to improve the physical and mental health of our clients and reduce the likelihood of their premature admission to long-term residential care. Transport also allows our clients to build & sustain community participation, access other services and socialise.
HKCT currently has a fleet of 14 vehicles and 30 employees led by a General Manager and is government funded, primarily as part of the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) under contract with Transport for NSW.
