Event Director

SMASH! is Australia’s leading anime convention. We’ve held successful events for the last 15 years and are looking for a skilled and passionate Event Director to join our team of volunteers to lead the flagship SMASH! event, typically held in July.

We are looking for a new Event Director who will be responsible for planning, organising, coordinating, and executing all aspects of the SMASH! event. You will be supported by and work with a team of department leaders and an active Board of Directors in realising an event attended by over 28,000.  Assisting you at the same level will be a Business Services Director and People & Culture Director who will support your operations in areas of IT, Accounts, Analytics, Creative and hiring of the staff and crew volunteer team.

The departments you’ll oversee and work with are Marketing, Programming, Operations, Attendee Experience, Guests, and Sales & Partnerships. You will have the chance year-to-year to improve the department structure according to SMASH’s and your own design.

Honorarium
An honorarium is being considered for the Event Director role for the SMASH! 2023 convention. Details are yet to be finalised, and will be communicated to prospective candidates and the SMASH! community in the coming weeks.

Commitment
SMASH Inc conducts most of its work online and outside business hours, and does not have a physical office. Candidates should apply with the understanding that they may be required to answer emails and online correspondence in this time, and will be required to convene meetings on weekends.
