About the role

As a Non-Executive Board Member of Aussie Helpers, you will provide strategic oversight and guidance to the organization, ensuring it remains aligned with its mission to support Australian farmers and rural communities. You will contribute your expertise and experience to help shape the direction of the organization, ensuring good governance, financial sustainability, and impactful programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Governance: Participate in board meetings and contribute to the effective governance of Aussie Helpers, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with fellow board members and the executive team to develop and review the organization’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with its mission and vision.
  • Financial Oversight: Monitor the financial performance of the organization, including budget approval, financial reporting, and risk management.
  • Advocacy and Representation: Act as an ambassador for Aussie Helpers, promoting its work within your networks and helping to raise awareness and support.
  • Fundraising Support: Assist in fundraising efforts by leveraging your connections and providing strategic advice to maximize donor engagement and funding opportunities.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to the executive team and other stakeholders, helping to build capacity within the organization.
  • Risk Management: Identify and address risks to the organization, ensuring that appropriate measures are in place to mitigate them.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and government agencies, to support the organization’s mission and objectives.Qualifications:

    Proven experience in governance, leadership, or senior management roles, preferably within the nonprofit sector or related industries (e.g., agriculture, rural development). Strong strategic thinking, financial acumen, and the ability to contribute to high-level

    decision-making. Passionate about rural communities and the mission of Aussie Helpers, with the ability to dedicate the time and energy required for board duties. Well-connected within relevant sectors, with the ability to leverage personal and professional networks for the benefit of the organization. High ethical standards and a commitment to upholding the values and reputation of Aussie Helpers.
