About the role

Each year on ANZAC Day, rosemary is distributed as a gift to the public by Sydney Legacy at dawn services, ANZAC day marches and commemorative sporting games held in the Sydney CBD and other locations.

Rosemary is an ancient symbol of remembrance. The aromatic herb grows wild on the Gallipoli peninsula, where the original Anzacs served in World War I. Australians traditionally wear sprigs of rosemary as a symbol of remembrance on Anzac Day.

More than 40,000 sprigs of Rosemary are prepared by our volunteers in the lead up to Anzac day.

We require volunteers from Monday 14th to 24th April (excluding Easter).

The shifts are:

9.00 am – 12.00 noon

OR

12.30 – 3.30 pm

You will be provided lunch and detailed instructions on how to undertake sprigging. This is a great team building exercise and so I encourage you to put together a team – family; friends or work colleagues.

About the organisation

Organisation name : Legacy

Established in 1923, Legacy is a unique Australian charity dedicated to caring for the families of deceased or seriously injured veterans. Since the Legacy promise was made by a soldier to his dying mate in the trenches of WW1 to “look after the missus and the kids,” Legacy has supported Australian Defence Force families in times of great need.

WHAT WE DO
The work of Legacy aims to ensure that our veterans’ families can grow and thrive despite their adversity.
Our work can mean a child gets an education and a fair go, a widow is not disadvantaged and alone and a family is not torn apart by the effects of post-traumatic stress or other psychological injuries.

Not for Profit : Yes
